In 1825 Joseph Smith went to Harmony, Pa., to work for Josiah Stowell, was staying with the family of Isaac and Elizabeth Hale, where he met their daughter, Emma, \u200b\u200ba tall, dark hair, which was a schoolteacher. Joseph and Emma were married on January 18, 1827, in South Bainbridge, New York.
